2024 Men’s U18 World Championships: Australia loses to Chinese Taipei in overtime

The Australian men’s national under-18 team have lost 4–5 in overtime to the Chinese Taipei men’s national under-18 team in their fourth game of the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship Division II Group B tournament in Puigcerda, Spain. Bryce Hodges the lead the team in scoring with two goals followed by Jed Lake and Lachlan Sucher with one each. The IIHF award for best Australian player of the match was given to forward Bryce Hodges.

In the other games of the day China defeated Bulgaria 7–2 and Spain beat Israel 11–1. At the end of the fourth round Australia remains fourth on the standings and China continues to lead the tournament with twelve points. Spain moves up into second place, pushing Bulgaria down to third. Chinese Taipei meanwhile moves back into fifth place and Israel returns to the bottom of the standings. The teams have a rest day today and return on 23 March where Australia will take on Bulgaria for their final game of the competition. The two teams last met at the 2023 World Championships where Australia lost 2–5.
