2024 AIHL season: 19 April results and standings

Day 5 of the 2024 Australian Ice Hockey League regular season has finished with the Sydney Bears defeating the Sydney Ice Dogs 9–2 at the Macquarie Ice Rink. The Melbourne Ice continue to lead the Hellyer Conference standings, edging out the Perth Thunder on win percentage. The Sydney Bears meanwhile move up to third, pushing the Melbourne Mustangs down to fourth. In the Rurak Conference, the Newcastle Northstars remain at the top of the standings, six points ahead of the second placed Adelaide Adrenaline. The Melbourne Ice also continue to lead the league’s combined standings, edging out the second placed Newcastle Northstars on goal difference. Competition resumes on 20 April with games in Canberra, Central Coast, Melbourne, and Sydney.

Today’s match also served as the second game of the 2024 Wilson Cup series. The Cup is awarded to the winner of the regular season series of games between the two teams. The Sydney Bears now hold a two games to nil lead in the series after winning the first 6–2 earlier in April.
