2024 Men’s World Championships: Australia loses to Croatia

The Australia men’s national team have lost 2–3 to the Croatian men’s national team in their second game of the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division II Group A tournament in Belgrade, Serbia. Australia’s goals were scored by Bayley Kubara and Casey Kubara with Bayley Kubara’s being his first at the senior World Championship level. The IIHF award for best Australian player of the match was given to forward Casey Kubara.

In the other games of the day the United Arab Emirates defeated Iceland 7–2 and Serbia beat Israel 5–1. At the end of the second round Australia remains in fourth place on the standings and Croatia continues to lead with six points. The teams have a rest day today and return on 24 April where Australia will take on Israel for their third game of the tournament. The two teams last met at the 2023 World Championships where Australia won 7–1.
