Ice Hockey Australia have released the roster for the Australian men’s national team for the upcoming 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division II Group A tournament. Two additional players are expected to be added to the roster following the Trans-Tasman Ice Hockey Challenge and will be added here once they become known. The competition will take place from 21 April to 27 April 2024 in Belgrade, Serbia with Australia competing against Croatia, Iceland, Israel, Serbia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Comparing the roster to the team that competed at the 2023 World Championships it includes ten returning players and twelve new signings, while twelve players have been dropped. The returning players include Mackenzie Caruana, John Kennedy, Bayley Kubara, Casey Kubara, Tyler Kubara, Daniel Pataky, Cameron Todd, Vadim Virjassov, Kieren Webster, and Jamie Woodman.
The twelve new signings include nine players making their debut for the team at the World Championship level and three players who have previously competed. Strat Allen, Nick Christensen, Jakob Doornbos, Julian Fodor, Ethan Hawes, Mitchell Henning, Jake Ruck, Aleksi Toivenen, and Alexander Wardlaw will all make their debut in 2024. Jordan Kyros returns to the team having last competed in 2016 and Brian Funes and Michael McMahon return having last competed in 2019.
The twelve players not returning for 2024 include Andreas Camenzind, Wehebe Darge, Robert Haselhurst, Tomas Landa, Lynden Lodge, Liam Manwarring, Shannon McGregor, Tim Newmark, Charlie Smart, and Beau Taylor. Anthony Kimlin and Robert Malloy were both set to return though they withdrew prior to the tournament’s start.
