2024 Men’s World Championships: Australia loses to Israel

The Australia men’s national team have lost 4–5 following a shootout to the Israeli men’s national team in their third game of the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division II Group A tournament in Belgrade, Serbia. Australia’s goals were scored by Strat Allen, Mackenzie Caruana, Cameron Todd, and Kieren Webster with Allen’s being his first at the World Championship level. The IIHF award for best Australian player of the match was given to forward Kieren Webster.

In the other games of the day Croatia defeated the United Arab Emirates 4–1 and Serbia beat Iceland 9–3. At the end of the third round Australia has dropped to fifth place on the standings with Israel moving up into fourth. Croatia continues to lead the tournament ahead of the now second placed Serbia who moved up from third, pushing the United Arab Emirates down a place. Australia takes on Iceland today for their fourth game of the tournament. The two teams last met at the 2023 World Championships where Australia lost 2–4.
