Continuing our look at the Australian players who were competing overseas during the 2024–25 season. Today features Part 6 of 11 of Australians in the United States.
Morris O’Handley (ACHA profile): First season with Williston State College after spending 2023–24 with the Cochrane Generals. Playing in the American Collegiate Hockey Association’s Division 2, O’Handley recorded five goals and two assists from 28 games.
Zachary Okabe (ECHL profile): First season in the ECHL after spending 2023–24 in the American Hockey League and the NCAA’s Division I. After signing a one-year contract with the Abbotsford Canucks of the American Hockey League, Okabe spent the entire season playing for their ECHL affiliate, the Kalamazoo Wings where he scored 19 goals and 22 assists across 72 games. Heading into 2025–26, he has signed a one-year extension with Abbotsford.
Tyrone Oxlade (USPHL profile): First season in the United States. Playing for the West Chester Wolves in the United States Premier Hockey League’s Premier Division, Oxlade scored one goal from eight games.
Andrew Penca (ACHA profile): Third season with the United States Naval Academy. Playing in the American Collegiate Hockey Association’s Division 1, Penca recorded nine goals and three assists across 24 games.
Matilda Pethrick (SUNY Oswego profile): Second season with SUNY Oswego. Playing in the NCAA’s Division III, Pethrick scored two goals and one assists from eleven games.
