Team Canada edge Team USA in Perth

Team Canada have won Game Two of The Wayne Gretzky 2016 Ice Hockey Classic defeating Team USA 6-5 in a shootout at Perth Arena. Team Canada now hold a 2-0 lead in the five games series. The series resumes on 24 June with Game Three being held in Adelaide before moving to Sydney for Game Four and then Brisbane for Game Five.

2016 Ice Hockey Classic

TLA Worldwide and Nine Live have announced the return of the Ice Hockey Classic series for 2016. The series will again feature Canada and the United States competing in four games in four cities across Australia. Melbourne, Perth and Sydney remain on the schedule, with Brisbane being dropped in favour of Adelaide. Canada won the 2015 edition of the Ice Hockey Classic, defeating the United States three games to one.

Team Canada claim Ice Hockey Classic Cup

Team Canada have defeated Team USA 6-3 in the final game of the 2015 Canada vs USA Ice Hockey Classic at the Perth Arena. Canada take the series 3-1 and claim the inaugural Ice Hockey Classic Cup.

In the pre-game event at the Arena the Perth Thunder defeated the Melbourne Mustangs 4-3 to move six points clear in the AIHL regular season standings.

2015 AIHL Season: Round 9

Round 9 of the 2015 Australian Ice Hockey League season has finished with wins for the Newcastle North Stars, Perth Thunder, Sydney Bears and Melbourne Mustangs. Of note the game involving the Perth Thunder and Melbourne Mustangs at the Perth Arena as a pre-game event to the Canada v USA Ice Hockey Classic match saw the Thunder defeat the Mustangs 4-3 in front of a 2,000 strong crowd. The Thunder remain on top of the standings, three points clear of the second placed North Stars. Round 10 starts this Thursday with the Mustangs taking on the Ice in Melbourne and then six games are scheduled for the weekend. Seven of the eight teams are in action with only the Perth Thunder sitting out the round on a bye.

2015 Ice Hockey Classic

Tickets went on sale today for the upcoming 2015 Ice Hockey Classic. The four game exhibition series features Canada and the United States competing in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. The series is presented by TLA Worldwide and Nine Live and is similar, but unrelated, in style to the International Ice Hockey Australian Tour presented last year by the Douglas Webber Group.

Team Canada defeats Team USA in Game One

Team Canada has won the opening game of the 2014 International Ice Hockey Australian Tour defeating Team USA 9-6. Game One of the exhibition series was held at the Perth Arena yesterday with Game Two to take place today also at the Perth Arena. The two teams are competing for the Douglas Webber Cup and will play a total of five games in Australia.
