2020 Women’s World Championships: Australia beat Turkey

The Australian women’s national team have defeated Turkey 2-1 in their second game of the 2020 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division II Group B tournament. Forward Natasha Farrier was named best Australian player of the match and the Sydney Sirens’ Sera Dogramaci was named best player of the game for Turkey. In other games of the day Croatia defeated Ukraine 2-1 in a shootout and Iceland beat New Zealand 4-1. At the end of the second round Australia have moved up into first place, three points clear of Iceland and New Zealand. The teams have a rest day today and return on Wednesday where Australia take on Croatia for their third game of the tournament. The last time these two team met was at the 2012 World Championships where Australia won 3-0.
