Melbourne Mustangs sign Liam Hughes

The Melbourne Mustangs have announced the signing of Canadian goaltender Liam Hughes for the upcoming 2023 Australian Ice Hockey League season. Hughes last played for the Guildford Flames during the 2021–22 Elite Ice Hockey League season where he recorded a 0.898 save percentage from six games. Prior to joining Guildford Hughes also spent some of his 2021–22 season with the University of Manitoba in the U Sports system and with the Fort Wayne Komets in the ECHL. During the 2022–23 season Hughes attended the training camp for the ECHL’s Wichita Thunder on a professional tryout contract before being released in October.
