Sydney bears announce one new signing and three re-signings

The Sydney Bears have announced the signing of one new player and three re-signings for the upcoming 2023 Australian Ice Hockey League season.

Defender Ryan Annesley re-joins the club for his sixth season. During 2022 Annesley was part of the team’s roster but failed to play a game during the season. Since making his league debut in 2016 he has competed in 86 AIHL games and recorded 101 points.

Defender Brian Funes re-joins the club for his sixth season with the Bears and eleventh season in the league. During 2022 he played 21 games, scoring four goals and 13 assists. Since making his league debut in 2011 Funes has competed in 261 AIHL games and recorded 82 points.

Goaltender Anthony Kimlin re-joins the club for his sixth season with the Bears and eighth season in the league. During 2022 he recorded a save percentage of 0.913 during the regular season and a 0.889 save percentage during the playoffs. Since making his league debut in 2012 Kimlin has competed in 141 AIHL games and averages a regular season save percentage of 0.908

Forward Michael Schlamp returns to the club after sitting out 2022 due to injury and other commitments. He has previously played in the AIHL, competing in 13 seasons between 2002 and 2019 with the Newcastle Northstars and Sydney Bears. In total Schlamp has competed in 289 AIHL games and recorded 339 points.
