Melbourne Ice announce eight new signings and one re-signing

The Melbourne Ice have announced the signing of eight new players and one re-signing for the upcoming 2023 Australian Ice Hockey League season.

Forward Jamie Bourke joins the club after spending 2022 playing for the Melbourne Ducks in the Pacific Hockey League. He has previously played in the AIHL, competing in ten seasons between 2008 and 2019 for the Melbourne Ice and Melbourne Mustangs. In total Bourke has competed in 248 AIHL games and recorded 314 points.

Defender Jack Carpenter joins the club after spending 2022 playing for the Melbourne Ducks in the Pacific Hockey League. He has previously played in the AIHL, competing in nine seasons between 2011 and 2019 for the Melbourne Ice and Melbourne Mustangs. In total Carpenter has competed in 200 AIHL games and recorded 40 points.

Defender Darcy Flanagan joins the club after spending the 2021–22 season playing for Boro/Vetlanda HC in the HockeyTvåan and Åseda IF in the HockeyTrean. He has previously played in the AIHL, competing in four seasons between 2016 and 2019 for the CBR Brave, Melbourne Ice and Melbourne Mustangs. In total Flanagan has competed in 50 AIHL games and recorded four points.

Goaltender Thomas Forrest joins the club after spending 2022 playing for the Melbourne Ducks in the Pacific Hockey League. He also recently competed for the Melbourne Glaciers in the 2022–23 AJIHL season and was part of the Australian men’s under-18 national team at the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championships.

Forward Logan Gallacher joins the club after spending 2022 playing for the Melbourne Ducks in the Pacific Hockey League. With the Ducks Gallacher competed in 20 games, scoring six goals and two assists.

Goaltender Michael James joins the club for his third season with the Ice and eighth season in the league. During 2022 he competed in 18 games, recording a save percentage of 0.862 and a 5.71 goals against average. Since making his league debut in 2011 he has competed in 70 AIHL games and has an average save percentage of 0.874.

Defender Kevin Peng (aka Haoxuan Peng) joins the club after spending 2022 playing for the Saints Monarchs in Ice Hockey Victoria’s Premier League. With the Monarchs Peng competed in nine games, scoring two goals and three assists.

Forward Byron Tschuma joins the club after spending 2022 playing for the Melbourne Ducks in the Pacific Hockey League. He has previously played in the AIHL, competing in two seasons between 2016 and 2017 for the Melbourne Mustangs. In total Tschuma has competed in 18 AIHL games and recorded one assist.

Forward Lliam Webster joins the club after spending 2022 playing for the Melbourne Ducks in the Pacific Hockey League. He has previously played in the AIHL, competing in 18 seasons between 2002 and 2019 for the Melbourne Ice. In total Webster has competed in 357 AIHL games and recorded 449 points.
