2023 AIHL season: 5 May results and standings

Day 8 of the 2023 Australian Ice Hockey League regular season has finished with the Sydney Bears defeating the Sydney Ice Dogs 6–2 at the Macquarie Ice Rink. With their win the Sydney Bears move into first place on the Hellyer Conference standings while the Brisbane Lightning remain at the top of the Rurak Conference. The Sydney Bears also move to the top of the league’s combined standings, one point clear of the second placed Melbourne Mustangs. Competition resumes tomorrow with games in Brisbane, Canberra, Perth and Sydney.

Today’s match also served as the second game of the 2023 Wilson Cup series. The Cup is awarded to the winner of the regular season series of games between the two teams. The Sydney Bears now hold a two games to nil lead in the series after winning the first 6–3 in April.
