Day 35 of the 2023 Australian Ice Hockey League regular season has finished with wins for Brisbane Lightning, Perth Thunder and Sydney Bears. Following today’s results, the three winning teams all qualified for the 2023 Goodall Cup playoffs. They join the CBR Brave, Melbourne Mustangs and Newcastle Northstars as the six teams to go through to the finals.
The Melbourne Mustangs and CBR Brave remain at the top of the Hellyer Conference and Rurak Conference standings respectively. The Melbourne Mustangs also continue to lead the league’s combined standings, one point ahead of the second placed CBR Brave. Competition resumes tomorrow with games in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Perth.
Today’s match between the Perth Thunder and Sydney Ice Dogs saw the Perth Thunder wearing a DonateLife themed jersey to raise funds for Transplant Australia and the Heart & Lung Research Institute Western Australia. In the Melbourne Mustangs and Sydney Bears game the Melbourne Mustangs held their Prostate Cancer Awareness Round which included a one-off themed jersey to raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia
