2023 AIHL season: 12 August results and standings

Day 40 of the 2023 Australian Ice Hockey League regular season has finished with wins for the Adelaide Adrenaline, CBR Brave, Sydney Bears and Sydney Ice Dogs. Following today’s results, the Sydney Bears win the Hellyer Conference title and qualify for the semifinal round of the 2023 Goodall Cup playoffs. The Melbourne Mustangs and Perth Thunder, who sit second and third respectively, will compete in the upcoming play-in round of the playoffs.

The Conference standings remain unchanged with the Sydney Bears and CBR Brave continuing to lead the Hellyer Conference and Rurak Conference respectively. The CBR Brave also continue to lead the league’s combined standings, three points ahead of the second placed Sydney Bears. The Melbourne Ice move up to fifth on the combined standings, edging out the now sixth placed Brisbane Lightning on games won in regular time and overtime.

Today’s game between the Perth Thunder and Sydney Bears also served as the Perth Thunder’s Indigenous Round game. As part of the event the Perth Thunder wore jerseys featuring artwork by Gamilaraay artist Cassandra Edwards. The game worn jerseys were auctioned off with proceeds going towards the Shooting Stars organisation.

The match between the CBR Brave and Central Coast Rhinos meanwhile served as the CBR Brave’s Hockey Fights Cancer game. As part of the event the CBR Brave wore themed jerseys which were put up for auction afterwards with part proceeds going towards the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.
