2024 Men’s World Championships: Australia loses to the United Arab Emirates and finishes fifth

The Australia men’s national team have lost 4–5 to the United Arab Emirates men’s national team in their final game of the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division II Group A tournament in Belgrade, Serbia. Australia’s goals were scored by Casey Kubara, Jordan Kyros, Vadim Virjassov, and Jamie Woodman. The IIHF award for best Australian player of the match was given to defender Jamie Woodman.

In the other games of the day Israel defeated Iceland 4–2 and Croatia shutout Serbia 3–0. Australia finishes the tournament in fifth place with four points from five games. Croatia finishes in first and earns promotion to Division I Group B for 2025, while Iceland comes in last and is relegated to Division II Group B for next season. The IIHF award for best Australian player of the tournament was given to goaltender Aleksi Toivonen.
