2019 Women’s Championships: Australia lose to Mexico

The Australian women’s national team have lost 4-7 to Mexico in their fourth game of the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division II Group A tournament. In other games of the day Slovenia beat North Korea 4-3 following a shootout and Great Britain defeated Spain 4-1. At the end of the fourth round Australia remain last on the standings and are officially relegated to Division II Group B for 2020. Slovenia continues to sit atop the standings, one point ahead of second placed Great Britain. Australia takes on Spain today for their final game of the tournament. The last time these two teams met was at the 2016 World Championships Group B tournament where Australia won 4-1.
