2023 Trans-Tasman Clash: Australia defeats New Zealand in Game 1

The Australian men’s national team have defeated the New Zealand men’s national team 5–2 in the opening game of the 2023 Trans-Tasman Clash at Paradice Botany in Auckland. Australia opened up the scoring in the second period with goals from Casey Kubara and Robert Malloy before New Zealand evened up the score with goals by Aleksander Polozov and Andrew Cox. The Australian team then put on three unanswered goals in the third from Wehebe Darge, Tomas Landa and Mackenzie Caruana to win the match. Competition resumes tomorrow for Game 2 of the three-game series,
