Day 27 of the 2023 Australian Ice Hockey League regular season has finished with wins for the CBR Brave, Melbourne Mustangs, Newcastle Northstars, Perth Thunder and Sydney Bears. Following today’s results, the CBR Brave are the first team to qualify for the 2023 Goodall Cup playoffs.
The CBR Brave remain at the top of the Rurak Conference standings while the Melbourne Mustangs move into first place in the Hellyer Conference following the Sydney Bears recent penalty over a rule breach. The CBR Brave also continue to lead the league’s combined standings, five points ahead of the second placed Melbourne Mustangs. Competition resumes tomorrow with games in Brisbane, Central Coast, Newcastle and Sydney.
The game between the Melbourne Ice and Sydney Bears also served the Canada Day Cup match which saw the Sydney Bears wear a Canada Day themed jersey. The game also included a Teddy Bear Toss to help support the charity Weave Youth & Community Services. The match between the Adelaide Adrenaline and Perth Thunder also celebrated Canada Day with the Adelaide Adrenaline wearing a themed jersey for the game.
