The Newcastle Northstars have added Canadian defenceman Kyler Matthews to their roster for the 2024 Australian Ice Hockey League season. Matthews spent 2023–24 playing for the Birmingham Bulls in the Southern Professional Hockey League where he recorded an assist and 29 penalty minutes from 19 games. Between 2015 and 2024 Matthews has spent time playing in the ECHL, Federal Prospects Hockey League, NCAA’s Division III, Ontario Junior Hockey League, and the Southern Professional Hockey League.
