Northstars sign Kennedy as coach

The Newcastle Northstars have signed John Kennedy as an associate coach. Kennedy replaces Garry Doré as the third associate coach at the club with Doré returning to focus solely on his general manager role. He joins Ray Sheffield and Joey Theriault who were named associate coaches in 2018. Kennedy played 121 games in the AIHL from 2012 to 2018 where he recorded 96 points. Bremner to join Ice

The Perth Thunder have announced that forward Jonathon Bremner has left the club and will join the Melbourne Ice for the 2019 AIHL season. The move is the result of a job offer in Melbourne. Bremner played in 168 games for the Perth Thunder from 2012 to 2018, recording a total of 83 points. For more information see the announcement from the Perth Thunder.

Ice Dogs sign Paul and Tim Crowder

The Sydney Ice Dogs have announced the signing of Canadian forwards Paul Crowder and Tim Crowder. The two brothers have been playing the 2018-19 season in the Elite Ice Hockey League with Paul currently signed with Fife Flyers and Tim with Coventry Blaze. Macquarie Ice rink spared demolition

AMP Capital have announced that they will no longer go ahead with the planned demolition of the Macquarie Ice Rink. Community consultation instead led to AMP Capital announcing that any future development to Macquarie Centre will include an Olympic-sized ice rink. Northstars pick up new naming rights sponsor

The Newcastle Northstars have signed Newcastle Rescue and Consultancy as their new naming rights sponsor for 2019 through to 2021. The club will now be known as the Newcastle Rescue Northstars. Newcastle Rescue was previously a gold level sponsor for the club and replaces Proski as the naming rights sponsor. Proski will continue to support the club at their gold level of sponsorship. Ice Dogs sign Bartus

The Sydney Ice Dogs have announced the signed of American goaltender Garrett Bartus for the 2019 season. Bartus has spent the 2018-19 season playing for the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in the ECHL where he currently has a save percentage of 0.891 from 22 games. Macquarie Ice Rink demolition on hold

The application to demolish the Macquarie Ice Rink in 2020 has been put on hold following community reaction. AMP Capital, the owners of the Macquarie Centre where the rink is located, will now seek consultation from the community and stakeholders before coming to a final decision.
