Ice Dogs reveal Bombers jersey for the Matt Clark Shield

The Sydney Ice Dogs have revealed their Warringah Bombers themed jersey which they will in their 13 July game against the Adelaide Adrenaline. The special edition jersey is part of the teams Leukaemia Fundraising Night and is dedicated to former Bombers player Matt Clark who passed away due to Leukaemia in 1995. The two teams will also be competing for the Matt Clark Shield, an award that was originally contested from 1995 to 2001 at the Bombers’ Matt Clark Memorial Games. The jerseys are designed by Cheapskate Hockey and are expected to be auctioned of after the game.

2019 AIHL playoffs to be held in Newcastle

The AIHL have announced that the 2019 AIHL playoffs will be held at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium in Newcastle. The finals will be held on 31 August and 1 September and are sponsored by Air Canada for the seventh year in a row. For more information see the announcement from the club.

Ice Dogs sign Vasquez

The Sydney Ice Dogs have signed forward Jeremy Vasquez from the Sydney Bears. Vasquez played in 59 games for the Bears from 2016 to 2019, recording eight goals and eleven assists. He is the second player to depart the Bears for the Ice Dogs mid-season after Lachlan Fahmy switched clubs in May. The announcement was made by the Newcastle Northstars ahead of their 29 June game against the Ice Dogs.

2019 AIHL season: Round 10

Round 10 of the 2019 Australian Ice Hockey League season has finished with wins for the Perth Thunder, Newcastle Northstars, CBR Brave, Sydney Bears and Melbourne Ice. The Brave remain on top of the standings, seven points clear of the second placed Northstars. Next week all eight teams are in action across six games.

The match between the Sydney Bears and Melbourne Ice also served as the sixth annual Canada Day Classic. The Bears defeated the Ice 6-4 to claim their first title since 2016.

Bears sign Guyenet and Dauda

The Sydney Bears have announced the signing of Swiss defenceman Kyllian Guyenet and Slovak forward Adam Dauda for the remainder of the 2019 season.

Guyenet spent the 2018-19 season playing for HC Sierre in the Swiss MySports League where he recorded 16 points from 42 games. Dauda started his 2018-19 season playing in the NCAA for Colgate University before finishing with a brief stint in the ECHL for the Newfoundland Growlers.

Thunder reveal NAIDOC Week jersey

The Perth Thunder have revealed their NAIDOC Week jersey. The jerseys are designed by aboriginal artist Aaron Sutton and aim to promote NAIDOC 2019 “Voice Treaty Truth – Let’s work together for a shared future”.

Mustangs sign Nastiuk

The Melbourne Mustangs have announced the signing of Canadian goaltender Kevin Nastiuk for the remainder of the 2019 season. Nastiuk spent the 2018-19 season playing for the Stony Plain Eagles in the Allan Cup Hockey West where he recorded a 0.860 save percentage in the regular season and a 0.947 in the playoffs.
