The Sydney Ice Dogs have released their roster for the 2023 Australian Ice Hockey League season. Comparing to the Ice Dogs’ 2022 roster it includes 15 returning players and 17 new signings while 19 players are released.

The new players include Mackenzie Bolger (from The Coast), Braden Costa (from The Coast), Nicholas Doornbos (from CBR Brave), James Douchkov, Brandon Egli (from Bouquetins de Courchevel-Méribel-Pralognan), Sean Ellison (from Central Coast Rhinos), Stefan Fournier (from Allen Americans), Brady Heppner (from Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs), Kyle Hunter, Samuel Ivanic (from Linden Hockey), Dmitri Kuleshov (from The Coast), Ivan Kuleshov (from The Coast), Mika Laajunen (from Sydney Bears), Matt Musumeci (from Central Coast Rhinos), Jack Ransome (from The Coast), Lachlan Shumak and Jerry Zhou (from Sydney Bombers). In addition, Alexander Dvinyaninov re-signed with the club after initially signing with the Brisbane Lightning before the season started.

While the dropped players are Thomas Blackwell, Ondrej Cervenka, Hayden Dawes (to Sydney Bears), Luka Dimopoulos (to Central Coast Rhinos), Kevin Dow, Lachlan Fahmy (to CBR Brave), Liam Jones, Eugene Ju, Nicholas Kabiotis, Joshua Kleipas, Jason Kvisle, Timothy McGrath, Brandon Reid, Fredrik Rozenberg, Marcus Rozenberg, Aiden Sillato, Christian Turner, Lukas Vaic (to Sydney Bears) and Franki Vlasek.

    I use these team roster numbers for metadata recognition for the photographs.

    • Oh, you’re right, I completely missed that. I wouldn’t fully trust the numbers until the season gets underway. I might blank out the duplicates for now just to be safe. If last year is anything to go by the numbers for some players constantly changed throughout the season. Or you get the one numbered jersey the team uses for player fill-ins. The plan is to keep the team roster posts updated throughout the season. Thanks
