Day 10 of the 2023 Australian Ice Hockey League regular season has finished with wins for the Brisbane Lightning, Melbourne Ice, Newcastle Northstars and Perth Thunder. With their win the Brisbane Lightning move clear at the top of the Rurak Conference while the Sydney Bears continue to lead the Hellyer Conference. The Sydney Bears also maintain their position at the top of the league’s combined standings, edging out the second placed Brisbane Lightning on win percentage. Competition resumes on 13 May with games in Adelaide, Central Coast, Melbourne and Perth.
Today’s game between the Newcastle Northstars and Central Coast Rhinos also served as the Northstars Indigenous Round game. As part of the event the Northstars wore jerseys featuring artwork by Baayanya by Nina which were auctioned off during the game. All proceeds from the event will go towards local Indigenous community’s access to learning and ice hockey in Newcastle.
