Ice Hockey Australia have released the roster for the Australian women’s national team which will compete in the upcoming 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship Division II Group B tournament. The competition will take place from 1 April to 7 April 2024 in Istanbul, Turkey with Australia competing against Hong Kong, New Zealand, North Korea, South Africa, and Turkey.
Comparing the roster to the team that competed at the 2023 World Championships it includes ten returning players and eleven new signings, while ten players have been dropped. The returning players include Michelle Clark-Crumpton, Stephenie Cochrane, Sharna Godfrey, Lindsey Kiliwnik, Sasha King, Molly Lukowiak, Marnie Pullin, Katrina Rapchuk, Sara Sammons, and Kate Tihema.
The eleven new signings include six players making their debut for the team and five players who have previously competed at the World Championships. Gabrielle Arps, Kaitlyn Malthaner, Georgia McLellan, Lily Roberts, Phoebe Roberts, and Kirsty Venus will all make their debut in 2024. Olivia Last, Matilda Pethrick, Courtney Mahoney, and Nikki Sharp all return having last competed in 2022. Ava Calabria returns for the first time since 2019.
The nine players not returning for 2024 include Ashlie Aparicio, Anna Badaoui, Christine Dutton, Jaimi Goonan, Remi Harvey, Isla Malcolm, Georgia Moore, Marina Nottle, Imogen Perry, and Chloe Walker. Isla Malcolm however has been named as one of the six reserve players. Ashlie Aparicio, who was initially named to play, withdrew prior to the start of the tournament.
